Responsive Services – Elementary
o Counseling individual students for particular issues (ex. problems
with friends, adjustment issues, anger issues, upset students)
o Assisting in classroom (ex. for large classes, out of control classes,
classes with substitutes, classes with students I was working with)
o Supervising student “time-outs” from classroom for behavior
issues and other disciplinary functions
o Researching individual student issues (ex. sensory integration disorder,
anger management)
o Providing rocket math assistance for student
o Organizing and supervising play/social groups
o Consulting with teachers and parents over individual student issues
o Checking in on students in classrooms for behavior and other issues

Guidance Curriculum – Elementary
o Helping to plan and implement district’s first annual Red Ribbon
Week, including:
o Decorating school and classrooms
o Sending letters to parents and faculty

o Coordinating guidance lessons
o Creating video announcements with students
o Organizing contests
o Participating in revision of K-12 developmental guidance curriculum
o Reviewing and researching guidance lesson plans
o Co-facilitating bullying prevention lessons

System Support – Elementary
o Meeting with faculty supervisor and internship supervisor on a weekly
basis

o Reviewing student cases with supervisor and teachers
o Assisting with televised morning announcements

Responsive Services – Secondary
o Planning and presenting a seminar on cyberbulling, internet safety
and social networking sites (eg. MySpace)

o Assisting with student scheduling issues, including returning parent
phone calls about scheduling
o Answering parent and student questions about applying to college and

o Consulting with supervisor, teachers, and parents to meet individual

o Administering AP Examinations

o Writing for and proofing the department newsletter
o Attending student support services meeting
o Preparing for school-wide survey and mailings

System Support – Secondary
o Presenting to parents and students at the senior meeting
o Meeting with faculty supervisor and internship supervisor on a weekly
